Water temperature: In the wild they live in water temperatures of 18 to 28 degrees Celsius but they best thrive in water temperatures of 26 to 28 degrees Celsius.

Minimum tank size: 250 Litres or larger, these fish grow to be about a meter in length and need a very large tank for small ones 250 litres is required for four or less but as they grow they will need 300 to 400 litres to themselves in a longer tank.

Diet: They feed on various foods from algae, insects, small fish to crustaceans. They aren't a picky eater and don't have any particular deficiencies you need to cater for.
Environmental needs: They are more active at night and need plenty of hiding spots, tall bushy plants are great for them as they will nestle themselves into the shrubbery. Soft and fine substrates are needed as they will dig through gravel and sand for food.
Tank mates: These fish are very placid and peaceful but its still best to keep them only with larger fish as anything too small will be eaten or at least nibbled on.
Other Info: These fish are rare in the aquarium world but are still fairly cheap, they have been unsuccessful in breeding in captivity and are wild caught when young. They also have a very playful nature and will often play with similar species and dart around the tank especially when younger.
